Canon has expanded its professional RF lens lineup with two new ultra-wide L-series lenses, giving photographers and filmmakers more creative flexibility.

The new RF 7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L FISHEYE STM (£1,720) and RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM (£2,400) both offer fast apertures, compact designs and high-end optics — but they take very different approaches to ultra-wide shooting.

The RF 7–14mm f/2.8–3.5L FISHEYE STM is the world’s first fisheye zoom to deliver a 190° angle of view. On full-frame EOS R cameras, it produces a circular fisheye image at 7mm and a full-frame 180° diagonal fisheye at 14mm. APS-C users can also capture dramatic diagonal fisheye images. Building on Canon’s earlier EF fisheye lenses, this RF version is wider, faster and lighter, while improving edge-to-edge sharpness.

A drop-in filter system supports circular polarising and variable ND filters, and the close focusing distance of just 0.15m makes exaggerated, creative compositions easy to achieve. Quiet STM autofocus, reduced focus breathing and support for 2D 180° VR workflows also make it a strong option for video creators.

Alongside it, the RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM is a rectilinear ultra-wide prime designed for speed and sharpness. Its bright f/1.4 aperture and 114° diagonal angle of view make it ideal for astrophotography, landscapes, architecture and interiors. Advanced optical elements and coatings help maintain high image quality across the frame, even when shooting wide open.

Weighing around 578g, the RF 14mm f/1.4L VCM balances portability with the robust build quality expected from Canon’s L-series lenses. Hybrid features such as smooth autofocus, reduced focus breathing and a dedicated Iris Ring also make it well suited to professional video work.
